This document is to provide
information regarding the new certification subject area rules for
Elementary Education (grades K-6) and Exceptional Student Education
(grades K-12) effective July 1, 2002,and other subject area changes
to be effective beginning July 1, 2003. These changes were approved
by the State Board of Education on March 12, 2002.It is expected that
the approval of the new subject areas will result in the
modifications of teacher preparation programs throughout the state to
transition from the current exceptional student categorical areas and
the Elementary Education (grades 1-6) to the new subject coverages. |
